Vintage Theme popular in the UK & the US. This pic was at the VIP lounge, Lovebox Festival 2011
There is a good article on vintage event trends that are also very popular over in the USA. Interesting to hear that the US events market is experiencing the same vintage market we have been servicing here in the UK since 2006.

A client recently put us onto these so we thought we’d share them with you budding creative stylist brides-to-be.
We headed up to an MOD tender sale recently and purchased 6 lots of equipment. Amongst the lots were 4 crates of top quality heavy duty canvas tents and shelters. These are earmarked for making dining/cooking shelters. We will be making wooden frames for them to give them a nice rustic feel and recycle them into a new life in events. The colour of the canvas ideally blends with the UK’s countryside.
Eventually we hope to recycle some into yurt and geo-dome canvas covers.
Vintage seems to be a buzz word for a buzzing scene at the moment in the UK. It may just be sexing up charity shops, jumble sales and generally using old stuff as long as you can, but hey, so what. Recycling and repairing stuff to keep it in good order is good house keeping. Something the generations that went through both world wars knew something about.
Over The Moon is proud to be preserving these traditions with our store full of wooden ladders, imperial gauge tools, grandad’s chisels, plains, drills et al. Pride of place of course is our 20 sections of military marquee, all packed away and stored lovingly to appear at weddings and festivals up and down the land.
We’ve launched a new blog, Vintage Tents, to cover more vintage related articles as well as stuff on the tents. And if you’d like to hire our Vintage Tents read more here
Environmental sustainability is still high on the agenda for festival organisers despite the recession forcing some events to tighten belts. According to research from ‘A Greener Festival’ which analysed the environmental assessments made at 37 festivals in 2009 and 32 in 2008. The results showed that despite a difficult economic time, organisers are still focused on making their events as green as possible.
Yurt promoting Green issues in Norwich
The research showed that 97 percent of festivals implemented green good practice and 94 percent and 97 percent respectively promote lift sharing and the use of public transport.
But there was mixed news when it came to recycling – as though 94 percent of festivals have prioritised recycling plans, there was a 24 percent reduction in recyling plastics and glass.
There was also a big jump in the number of festivals who now promote environmental issues on-site or on their websites, jumping 17 percent to 94 percent in total.
Several of the the ‘Greener Festival Award 2009′ winners collected their awards at the UK Festival Awards 2009 on Thursday 19th November.
Winners included Bestival, Camp Bestival, The Cambridge Folk Festival, Croissant Neuf Summer Party, Download, Hard Rock Calling, Standon Calling and Wireless .
