Over The Moon journeyed north to Glasgow for the 1st of April to produce a military theme party. The client’s brief was a military themed event and to cover a large 7mx4m pond right in the middle of the lawn. The pond span was too large for the vintage military tents to go over so we offered to camouflage a 19x15m Intent. We also used sides from our military tents to edge the Intent to add more olive green and the lived-in look of a military base.
We also added props like ammo crates, jerry cans, parachutes and lots more camo nets around the garden. The client had a large stage built over the pond that was suitably camouflaged and the look was completed with 180 combat ready 16-18 year olds. The night went off with a bang.

Bunker Bash - Military Theme Party
We were pleased to be sent a link, from one of our clients, to this article about the US military developing stretch tent looking solar powered canopies. These tents would be popular at many of the green minded festivals if the technology goes commercial. Like the internet, mobile phones and the myriad other products this would be another example of military technology having great benefit for non-military users.

Over The Moon crew provided the tents, sound and lighting for the Festival Tails area at this years Secret Garden Party. The festival had 25,000 people in attendance (10,000 more than last year) and the large growth didn’t harm its boutique credentials. There were still a plethora of canvas unusual tents including lost of yurts, military marquees and Intents (Chai Wallahs had a fab set up again).
We took down a 6x8m Intent and a 6x6m military tent joining the two together to make a welcoming cave like dance pad for the selling of Festival Tails and to make a venue in the evening.
The atmosphere at the event was great , some lovely people were met and lots of people came and chatted over the course of the weekend. The weather played its part and the sun warmed the place, the occasional cloud kept it bearable and the rain stayed away.

Over The Moon Tents often make use of surplus military equipment. It is a good form of recycling that enables us to purchase military grade equipment that is often superior to alternate commercially available equipment.
As well as our vintage ex -army marquee for hire, we also use old ammo boxes for carrying metal tent-anchor spikes; ex-helicopter cargo nets for securing loads to trailers; large holdall sacks for our cushions; ropes and bungees for securing sooo many things; a Sankey trailer for towing a generator; and surplus clothing can make for very hard wearing work-wear.
We love scouring surplus stores wherever we find them to see what the latest gear may be in, and it’s fun figuring out uses for stuff the military no longer needs.
